ABSTRACT

Introduction: In Santiago de Cuba province, the actions applied to control the epidemic in 2020 caused changes and negative effects on many of the health services that are usually provided in the territory. Objective: To identify the effect of the COVID-19 epidemic on health services in Santiago de Cuba province during 2020. Methods: A retrospective ecological study was conducted with time series as units of comparative analysis in Santiago de Cuba province as the only geographical territory to evaluate the effects of COVID-19 on the provision of health services during 2020. Some health service indicators from the time series from 2015 to 2019 were selected. The data source was official statistics. The percentage of change was estimated and a classification of the effects of COVID-19 according to its magnitude and meaning was proposed. Results: There were changes in the number and types of health services in terms of outpatient and emergency medical consultations, hospital admissions and average stay of cardiology activities related to admissions, coronary angiographies performed, pacemakers implanted and operations performed, elective surgical activities and emergency operations, as well as outpatient and minimal access ones, rehabilitative treatments, studies for diagnosis through the use of clinical and microbiology laboratories, imaging studies in general, and the most affected were those related to Stomatology, and kidney and corneal transplants. Conclusions: The COVID-19 epidemic had a negative effect on the functioning of health services as there were unfavorable changes in the number of services provided at the primary and secondary care levels, which can impact on the health of vulnerable people if alternative strategies are not established(AU)

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

It is known that to speak to others publicly not only demands a vivid intelligence, but also a high-level improvisation, fluency of oral expression, certain imagination level and coordination of thought; and also an exercised memory, because it is the psychological process that allows to learn new information, to store and to recover it when it is necessary to speak successfully in public, although it can sometimes fail due to diverse reasons. This work goes into great details about both of these basic capacities of the human being (an intellectual one and another cognitive)

ABSTRACT

To guarantee a successful verbal exposition, it is very sensible to take into account some aspects that could attempt against the attainment of the main objective, either before (meals or drinks, displacements, type of place and attitude) or during their performance (punctuality, greeting, use of you or you in a polite way as courtesy treatment and others), the discussions and the unexpected events (unexpected guests, linguistic errors, mental lagoons, involuntary and sudden movements, accidents and miscellany), because just this way it will be possible, most of the times, take a lecture to a happy term.

ABSTRACT

Certain bad habits of the language which reduce shine and seriousness to the verbal expressions have been diffused and even consolidated in the oratory, among which there are the tags and joker words, which are able to attempt against a very well prepared dissertation, but many times unrehearsed in front of others or recorded to listen the unnecessary repetitions of words or other linguistic incorrectness. Both idiomatic defects are exemplified in the work and some solutions are recommended to correct them; but as all addiction, interest and will of those who possess them are vital to be able to minimize them or to eliminate them of their lexical flow...

ABSTRACT

The personal image influences on the opinion of the audience about a speech and about who pronounces it; therefore, if the person pretends that this aspect of the non verbal communication becomes in a tool which impels his success in front of the public, it should always be a weapon to his favor at any moment or opportunity. In the article, besides some history on the matter, certain advices and orientations are offered -- maybe some disregarded and others involuntarily obviated -- about the perfumes and certain smells, but undoubtedly very transcendent in the oral scientific expositions.

ABSTRACT

Accessories are extremely important, because combined with success they allow to enhance the human figure as a whole, they transmit a valuable information about their carriers and they constitute an ideal resource to change the appearance in very few minutes. In the article different aspects related to the female and male complements are approached, fundamentally aimed at combating vulgarity, the bad taste and the erroneous concept of modernity in some minds and positions, because the oral presentation of a scientific work is a special circumstance that demands from speakers a equally distinctive behavior and personal image, in order to avoid that they can be disqualified by the auditory before beginning to speak to have neglected this basic element in their attire

ABSTRACT

Since the first successful somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) experiments were carried out, a number of domestic and agriculture species have been cloned using donor cells derived from different sources and origin. However, differences in nuclear transfer efficiency both in vitro and in vivo have been generally observed. These differences may be accentuated when transgenic cell lines are used as nuclear donors in an attempt to generate transgenic cloned offspring. The present study examined the suitability of cell lines derived from 3 different fetal sources and the effects of genetic manipulation of donor fetal fibroblasts with a red fluorescent plasmid, on the in vitro developmental potential and quality of nuclear transfer derived bovine embryos. We observed no differences in the cleavage rate of nuclear transfer embryos generated with any of the cell lines evaluated. However, the blastocyst rate was significantly affected when cell lines were derived from the 3 different fetal sources (21, 18 and 11 percent, respectively) or from 2 transgenic clonal cell lines that had originated from the same primary fetal cell (18 and 10 percent, respectively). Despite this difference, quality of embryos as measured by the total number of cells and by assessing some morphology aspects of their appearance was not different. Together these results indicate that fetal fibroblast cell lines derived from different fetal sources and transgenic clonal cell lines that had originated from the same fetus results in different in vitro developmental potential when used as donors for nuclear transfer experiments. Further studies, including evaluation of pregnancy rates, development to term, and epigenetic modifications of these cell lines will be necessary to better understand the differences observed in nuclear transfer efficiency.

ABSTRACT

The article deals with preposition background, general characteristics, classification, incorrect use (due to addition, disagreement or deletion), neutralization, and summary. Examples are shown in all cases, which is very useful to distinguish when it is attempted against the accuracy or purity of Spanish language because of the wrongly use of that particle. However, this is barely an approximation to the issue, taking into account that the problem is as complex as it is to solve it writing just a few pages; and then current linguistic rule can sanction nowadays some words that could be imposed perhaps tomorrow as valid due to the speakers´repeated use.

ABSTRACT

Total number of cells in cloned embryos is generally lower than that of in vivo derived embryos and in bovines cell allocation at the blastocyst stage, has been observed to be affected in a large proportion of cloned embryos. The current embryo staining procedures are toxic for mammalian cells and thus can not be used to determine the developmental potential of a stained embryo. Therefore, in the present study we sought to assess the feasibility to develop a noninvasive embryo model that would be suitable for the evaluation of cloned embryos subjected to different nuclear transfer and embryo culture procedures. For doing this, we stably transfected a bovine embryonic fibroblast cell line and generated a number of clones that constitutively expressed a red fluorescent protein (HcRed) in the nuclear compartment of the cell. Those clones with normal chromosomal content were further used as nuclear donor in nuclear transfer procedures (SCNT) to generate transgenic cloned embryos. These embryos expressed the red fluorescent protein in each blastomere, allowing their in vivo evaluation during development, thus demonstrating the potential of this model as a noninvasive tool for the assessment of the quality of cloned embryos.
